Spotlight on Asylum

Over the Autumn of 2018 we ran a festival called Spotlight on Asylum www.spotlightonasylum.com and an Online Art Auction which included artists including Tracy Emin, Rachel Whiteread, Antony Gormley, Mark Wallinger, Alison Wilding and David Batchelor. See the results at spotlightonasylum.com/angel-auctions Through the festival and art auction we raised just over £30,000. This money will pay for our storage and processing costs for the next 18 months. We would like to say a massive thank you to all the artists, local people, politicians, friends, organisations and especially  the women that we support who took part in the Project.

Spotlight on Asylum 2018

PramDepots festival  Spotlight On Asylum, was a two-month exhibition and program of events that aimed to raise awareness of the asylum process and how it impacts on women and children. Bringing together artists, poets, comedians, campaigners and politicians, the festival  used the arts as a way of engaging audiences which shone a light on the experiences of the women that PramDepot supports. Events included: Women Detained, a night of performance, film and discussion; Stand Up for Asylum, a comedy night; Woven Gold, the refugee and asylum-seeker choir in concert; Asylum in Focus, our two-day film festival; Hope in a Hostile Environment, an evening of spoken word poetry; Asylum InQuizition, an educational quiz night hosted by MPs Kate Osamar and Marsha de Cordova ; and Asylum Angels, an art auction featuring works from artists including Anthony Gormley, Tracey Emin, Mark Wallinger and Rachel Whiteread.
